I sent an email to the leadership at Autism Speaks tonight and wanted to share it with all of you.  I continue to be frustrated with Autism Speaks.  They are in a position of great power and wealth and continue to refuse to truly "speak" for our children.  Here is the email I sent to their leaders tonight:

I received Autism Speaks email tonight announcing the re-launch of its website. I immediately visited and found myself deeply disappointed.

I am the mother of two children. My oldest (son) is six years old and recovering from Autism. Our family works tirelessly not only on his treatment but also to educate the public and advocate for children who have ASD and continue to be at risk for developing ASD. I am frustrated that Autism Speaks continues to refuse to voice the truth about Heavy Metal Poisoning and Biomedical Treatments for Autism. 

Even though the very child for which Autism Speaks was founded for is healing as a result of these treatments; Autism Speaks does not mention a single biomedical treatment for Autism in its list of treatments on its newly re-launched website. I am aware that many of the leaders of Autism Speaks understand the truths about Heavy Metals, Autism and Biomedical treatments; yet it continues to promote silence which also prevents children from finding treatments and encourages our government, pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies to deny the causes and the most beneficial treatments for Autism. 

I had hoped that within the last two years Autism Speaks would have found the courage and strength to stand up for suffering children and families. Autism Speaks is now a highly funded agency with much power. Yet it has chosen to disable the Autism community by steering its funds, research and information sources away from the true causes and most beneficial medical treatments available for its wounded children. 

As an advocate for children and parents and as a parent of an affected child, I take the actions of Autism Speaks as a personal insult and find its actions irresponsible and dangerous. Therefore, I refuse to support Autism Speaks until it leadership begins to act more responsibly. Until then I will be sending my donation dollars, time and energy to other more responsible organizations. I will also be referring our friends and family to those organizations who have had the courage and heart to stand up for children with ASD and speak the truth.
